INNOVATION IN TRADITION
We contribute to the evolving systems of ancient knowledge by contextualizing them in modern processes & designs
The Sake Project focuses on forming relationships with master artisans, understanding ecological rhythms and working with sacred materials like native cotton, alpaca wool, wild rubber, and fish leather.
This project collaborates with female artisans who operate a small local studio on the mountains of Northern Spain. Some of them are even in their 80s and have been making garments since they were young.
Rather than sourcing materials through conventional supply chains, they create the piece with an understanding that it's an expression of the dialogues between Peru's ecosystems and complex cultures.
This project honors Peruvian stories that exist between the visible & the invisible - inspirations are drawn the cultural memory of Peru & the Amazon carried through garments.
Their long-term collaborations with artisan communities, material innovators, and territorial initiatives span across places such as the Andes, Amazonian region, Ucayali region, Chazuta and Lima.
