Azura Lovisa
COLLECTION ORIGIN
Azura Lovisa is a luxury slow fashion label rooted in storytelling, exploring hybridity and transcultural flows. Drawing from her mixed Malaysian-Swedish heritage, and often referencing her family photo archives, she reinterprets Southeast Asian aesthetic traditions with a Scandinavian approach.
Crafting contemporary genderless mythwear, her practices are committed to sustainability and honoring traditional crafts - all garments are handwoven with natural fabrics where the marks of the maker are evident.
The fabrics include handwoven and hand-dyed fabrics from India - raw silk from wild silkworms, lustrous bamboo fabric, and organic cotton grown, harvested, spun, woven and dyed by a company founded on regenerative agricultural practices. Batiks are made with hand-block wax-resist and marbling printing techniques sourced from Malaysia.
Her handmade jewellery are inspired by Southeast Asian folk medicine and a shamanic practice called ‘susuk’. This ritual includes plant-based ingredients like roots, flowers, spices, and seeds to enhance a person’s magnetism.
At the brand’s core is the continual dialogue with folklore and hidden histories, the natural world and thebodies that move through it, postcolonial tensions and reinventions.
